Deserted. An official call out - craig - 1-20-13 8:30 PM

Deserted in 2012

Whether it's my procrastinated homework assignments due a few hours ago, you unknown-to-me 'old school fb players', these forums with a shockingly high amount of 2008 post dates, or AFM as some see it; deserted.

Let me get to the point. To all of you retired old school players being all proud as if you're one of the 13 colonies, you fuckin suck.

I'm not talking completely in skill although it's quite possible; however, there are "tales" that us competitive newcomers hear that this mod once had scrimming and many competitive teams.

Apparently, once you retired fucksticks eroded from the scene a dominant force came together aka {GB'}. Not to encourage their level of play, but they're the team to beat as pointed out being the back-to-back tournament champions.

GB currently consists of their vocal leader Peyton, an great active player in Grogglez, a L4D2 committed player (those exist?) in Arod, a man who doesn't know where he even is half the time in Dop, a micless nigga with an unknown gender in Boo, and more recently great snatched up active talent in Deadpool.

I want to bring down GB and others should want to as well.

Some feel inferior and think GB should have to break up their roster because they're such a powerhouse team. According to the 2012 'top 50 afm players', they have the top 4 players. This leaves an opportunity for other people to step up.

'Waa the pre-throws by Pey to Grogglez too gud' shut up and try to beat it you cunt. Find patterns, double him, fuck with Pey's head, create a new defense. As I understand at one point there was no 'comeback route'. The game has shifted and will continue to shift.

My team v for vendetta was formed as a tournament team is seemingly the only other competitive afm team. I would say we're intact, but truthfully AFM is plagued by inactivity. This is the problem. People form teams specifically for the tournaments and then immediately disband or go inactive afterward.

Of the 'Top 50 afm players in 2012', I put together a list of notable players that are in my eyes, inactive. #5 TuPapa, #7 Funtastik, #8 Paradox, #10 Zing, #14 Clarity, #15 WKB, #19 Staterfan, #20 Coss, #21 Shippo, #25 Poobear, #27 Good Goat, #35 Weelad.

Some other notable inactive players that weren't on that list are: Smoked, veX, m5d, Vowel.

This inactivity list is probably even greater for those that are really talented yet want to play for something bigger. Some probably fall in this list as well like my inactive team members and Funt. This is speculation from my perspective.

There are tons of great active free agents out there and you know who you are... Shanks, Gee, Blood, Scar, Cookie, etc.

and new/semi-new great active players that are up-and-coming...
Tom Brady, Jeff, Wally, BeaN, hyoujin, etc.

AFM should be more competitive. We know the team formation is going to begin at some point with the new tournament coming up in March so why not form it now? Let's try this thing called "scrimming" which I've experienced less than a handful of times. Encourage or invite many pubstars with potential to pug/teams as I'm sure we all once were. SAV3, Caboose, Yeahitscoolbrah (still alive?, etc.

Anyway I just got done playing 10 hours of afm pugging like a fuckin nerd, have unfinished homework, and have to work in a few hours. Let's turn start a new chapter in 2013, the rebirth of AFM.

Champ bailey = blaze

Pancakes would probably be the only retired nigga to come back and be good in the current "meta"

Every other wr I heard of was considered worse than them two. Soooo

Past doesn't have much working for them talent wise...

I could not have said it any better Craig, I want to do as much as I can for this mod because honestly its very competitive and tons of fun. I honestly play for Tj not to be super competitive but to also see the fun side of AFM. Tj may not be a great quarter back but playing with him in the thanksgiving tourney was honestly one of the best experiences ive had so far in AFM because of the fact that we shared tons of laughter whether we were winning or losing. I encourage as many people as i can to come pug from the pub server, including people like Tom Brady,Jello,Willy. 2013 marks the Rebirth of AFM

I've never agreed and disagreed with a comment as much as I have with this one.
I'll start with what you got dead wrong.

First off, you can't simply compare today's players to those of four years ago. You can only look at their level of productivity then compare their rank and stats during their era. This is the case with the comparisons between Peyton Manning and Johnny Unitas. If the current Peyton Manning was sent back into time to play during Unitas' era he would simply dominate in every aspect of the game. Then again, what if Manning grew up in Unitas' era and he only competed against the level of play that Unitas got to compete against. Would Manning be as good as he is today? No. You cannot go back in time and you cannot play 'what if'. They're comparing each quarterback's level of productivity against the other quarterbacks that they played against, in their respective era.

9 of the 14 players that were indicted in the Hall of Fame(2008-2011) have shown that they could compete at the modern level of play. I also believe that if WhooKid attempted to actually play again he could be a top 2 QB until he dethrones your's truly. WhooKid would only have to familiarize himself with the aggressive pass rush, which was not present during the early days.

I agreed with everything that you said about the competition part of the game.

When Team Money was the best team around, I rushed to put a team together that would beat them. Although it took some time and patience, we finally did it. You can go through the old forum posts and see how mad some of the players were when that happened. If that ever happens to GB, I'll probably be just as pissed.

The combination of me to Grogglez should only inspire others to take us down. As should the back-to-back Championships.

The inactivity of players is just a part of the game. One that I believe will be decreased with the release of the new version of the mod. History has shown that this time of year has been the most active. Like you said, we should take advantage of it and begin scrimming again.

I think step 1 should be to get someone to DDoS all of the LoL servers so we can get William back. Haha kidding.

Essay Grade: B-

Comments:

Pros: Strong overall thesis. Clean conclusion referencing summary statement.

Cons: Bullshit intro. Some minor grammatical issues.

Other thoughts: This essay received an entire letter grade drop for one simple reason: I was referenced in the same line with an unnamed food product commonly consumed by Mexicans and tupapa. In addition, your reference of "new/semi-new" can be debatable while the statement "up-and-coming" is an absolute insult to the likes of this active affable professional. Continuation of this SHARP disregard for a SHARP will be seen as the end of the sharp rock and a resulting FAIL for the remainder of the course.
