Making AFM Great Again Continued (Serious Post) - Slim Shady - 1-2-17 5:29 PM I dont give a shit about admin. I do give a shit about the following: Expanding player base Improving mod Events (Drafts, Tournaments etc...) How? Glad you asked... Expanding Player Base: [Phase 1: Infrastructure] Social media is the way. An official youtube channel with more content than we currently have. An official twitter, facebook and instagram with a person or two to run them. Just posting our new vids from youtube and shit like that. Small posts and tweets every day or so. We already have forums, so maybe we don't need a reddit, but we can promote the mod on relevant subreddits. Also, we need a Teamspeak sort of server. I will buy, its cheap as fuck. [Phase 2: Expansion] A new CS:GO Mod called Counterstrike: Classic Offensive just came out. Its basically for 1.6 players who think GO sucks because of the movement and gun mechanics. We can post there advertising our mod. We can post on the CS:GO and CS 1.6 Reddits advertising our mod. We would have to work together to upvote it and get some more eyes on it. This is phase 2 because we want our social media to be up and running first to impress people. Improving Mod Anticheat is #1 priority, especially with more randoms joining our server learning to play. Make it VERY EVIDENT that scripting is against the rules and that any violator will be banned. I think hiring Beaver to update the teams available would be great. Updating rosters and adding a couple more teams. Also, updating the overtime rules. A system where people who are registered at the forums have one static name whenever they join the server. They can change any time on the forums in the settings. Also, an incentive to join the forums. Maybe hook privileges between games or some shit. Colored text when they type.. I don't know... just an incentive to get on forums that a random will not have. Plus incentives for people who donate like we have now. A pug server will be needed. If we have a constant flow of randoms in the server, we can't just start a pug and have 8 people spectating. I'm sure we can fund it. Its cheap. Events Now with more players in server and more people on forums, its time to get a tourney going. Draft, ratings... the whole thing. Other events, I dont know. Anyone got any ideas? Ideas: Tutorial videos on Youtube channel. I know its a lot to ask for someone to make tutorial videos, but its a one time thing that will last forever on youtube. Highlight videos if anyone is good or interested in making them. Awards for player with highest rating each month. Skin, badge on his helmet... whatever. Special skins for people who donate and admins. Final Note: If we can get 300 players to check out the mod (very modest estimate) and of those 300 players, only 10% keep playing (another modest estimate) we will have 30 new players in the server regularly. 30 players is a tournament in itself. I'm sure you guys have some ideas. Reply with them here. P.S.: Messi supported me in the other thread... I guess this is what Donald Trump felt like when he was endorsed by the KKK. RE: Making AFM Great Again Continued (Serious Post) - Slim Shady - 1-6-17 1:35 PM So no reply from JEDI? I am willing to give my time to help. I'm sure others are as well. I listed a bunch of things to easily get new players in the server. Like I said, 30 new players is a very modest estimate and 30 new players is a whole tournament in itself. Yellow has a PUG server, so that solves the biggest problem. No1 has any input? Good news, we have a Youtube channel. Bad news, its filled with JEDI playing guitar lol. Lets get shit moving. Can we get that CSAFM trailer from the older Youtube Account on the new one? Can we have ideas for some easy content like just straight up recorded pugs? Twitter + Reddit? I do appreciate your thoughts and they are all good but unfortunately something huge is missing. If this mod was on CS:GO and as the level we are at now things like Facebook/Reddit/YouTube/etc would definitely be viable. It's hard to get tons of new people on an old game. Impossible? No. But a lot of these things are high effort (AFM videos that aren't just boring pugs, unique admin models, etc). So in some capacity we can but I think a certain amount of effort should be considered RE: Making AFM Great Again Continued (Serious Post) - Slim Shady - 1-6-17 9:19 PM (1-6-17 4:31 PM)jedi Wrote:(1-6-17 1:35 PM)Slim Shady Wrote: So no reply from JEDI? Yea agreed CSGO would make it 1000x easier, but we dont have to ask people to buy a 20 year old game. Still a lot of CS1.6 players out there. A lot of players in zombie mods and PUGS and shit. Reddit/twitter/facebook etc.. make it easier for us to spread word. I really don't think 300 players total who join the server just to try it out is a crazy number. And then 10% actually enjoying it a lot and playing regularly. It's one of the hottest PC's games out right now and gaining traction. I'm talking to some student programmers here at IUPUI, seeing if any were up to the task of making a mod like AFM. I'm still waiting for a response from 2 of em. If a AFM for CS:GO does happen, we'll need to have 3 servers. 1 for PUG, 1 for PUB, and 1 for Rookies/Newcomers. It may not be a popular opinion, but I feel like this community would rip a rookie so bad to a point they won't even play haha. I'll keep you guys updated. |
