RE: Taking suggestions for the CS:GO map - patsfan929 - 5-6-16 6:04 PM What about a 1.6 tribute map? I know I'm new to the mod and all but this mod has been around for what? 10 years? I'm sure there must be some moments or whatever that you guys would want to commemorate. Just a thought. RE: Taking suggestions for the CS:GO map - Calvin - 5-7-16 12:42 AM i feel like taking design ideas from 1.6 maps would be a step in the wrong direction. the csgo mod is a chance to revitalize the mod with new ideas and a fresh look. creating maps on the csgo engine gives us a chance to include details in the map that make all the hours we're going to spend on it that much more enjoyable. you could do things like use a 3d skybox to make the stadium look like it's in a city or up near some mountains. i would also say maybe a domed stadium but it will probably cause balls to hit the roof if u threw them too high if you're trying to throw a ball across the entirety of the field. I definitely plan to use the CS:GO engine to its full potential, I'm kind of looking to create a sort of HD, realistic re-imagining of fm_stadium/stadiumtwo. It may not look very similar, but I want it to have a somewhat similar feel. I was also interested in using a 3D skybox. I had an idea where the stadium could have a slightly open design on one side, allowing you a view of some mountains in the distance, possibly through some fog/snow. As far as the dome goes, those stadiums are generally tall enough to avoid the ball hitting the ceiling (I made a couple dome stadium replicas in 1.6), although I don't think a dome is a good idea for a default map.
