Upcoming tournament format - Misanthrope - 2-21-15 5:24 AM Hi guys, viva afm, mucho love <3<3 So what I'm proposing for this upcoming tourny is the double elimination format. Why I'm proposing this is based on what I've seen last tournament. First round of games we've seen sbh and gb completely dominate lower echelon teams and those games were sad and not competitive at all, basically useless. With the double elimination format, underdogs teams would have a better and more fair chance to face real tournament competitiveness (that a word?). And it will give newer players more tournament experience as well. It's only an idea that I'm bringing up. Feel free to give your opinion about it or propose your own idea. Trolls, negative comments and downers feel free to retain yourself. Thank you guys <3<3 RE: Upcoming tournament format - Eakin - 2-21-15 8:32 AM Yes the last 1 was bs making my team vs sbh round 1 RE: Upcoming tournament format - kc21 - 2-21-15 1:08 PM The idea of double elimination is good but when it comes to the tourny trying to schedule more games than necessary its just going to make this tournament take long. It would be a great idea if we didnt have scum players to schedule with (example official 6 tom and fucking arod.) RE: Upcoming tournament format - Peyton - 2-22-15 1:18 PM The Official Tournament has always had the single elimination format and it's going to stay that way, for now at least. Double elimination tournaments are usually best when there are 4 competitive teams particapating. These tournaments tend to take a little longer to complete because of scheduling conflicts. I have never held an 8 team double elimination nor do I plan on it because there's going to be a team or two that gets destroyed both games. RE: Upcoming tournament format - blood - 2-22-15 6:50 PM Even though I believe this will never happen. I think this official should be special as I believe this will be one of the last ones. I think there should be a preseason to get into the official tournament. That goes like this. The winner of the last Official will automatically earn a spot into the Official tournament assuming they play. Then the top 3 teams including the Winner of last Official will earn a free spot. So basically IF SBH plays they and the number 2 and number 3 seeded team will earn a spot. The seeds will be given by peyton. The number 8th, 7th, 6th, and 5th team will play a single elimination placement match for the 4th spot. 8th vs 5th and 7th vs 6th. then Winner vs Winner. Then the official tournament can either be a double elimination or a single elimination, or we can have each team play each other once and the best records play in a finals match, Tie breakers rules can be made as points, or a tie breaker match. I think the placement tournament is a good idea mainly because it gives newer teams and newer players a better tournament experience playing against teams their own skill without getting 1 and done shitted on. The stats accumulated from the placement matches are not recorded for official and shouldn't apply towards tournament stats. I feel something along these lines should be done. I also understand this requires more match making but I feel it should be understood if you sign up for the tournament its almost like playing in a pug. By signing up you are dedicating at least 1 game maybe 2 in 1 week. if you can't make that commitment do not sign up and if you fail to do so you will receive a temp ban RE: Upcoming tournament format - Record - 2-22-15 10:39 PM +1 for bloods idea, sounds good and gives this tourney a bit more excitement and makes it a bit more competitive. RE: Upcoming tournament format - Misanthrope - 2-24-15 4:05 PM I think blood's idea is a great idea. Only 1 point tho, there would be a lot of disagreement on who's 3rd and 4th seed. |
