Top Wide Receivers - Strengths and Weaknesses - Peyton - 5-12-16 8:04 PM

Wide Receiver Rankings

#1 - @kc21
Strengths: Touchdown maker that possesses ability to go over-the-top at will. Defenders pay the ultimate price of 6 points when attempting to press. Consistent in his play speed and precise route runner. Sinks the hips when making cuts. His acceleration out of his breaks is second to none. Makes the first tackler miss frequently. Uses leverage and subtle directional change to create separation. Maintains body-control to adjust midair while climbing the ladder to snare jump-balls with ease.
CSFL Review: Played QB.

The WR position holds the biggest gap in skill between the #1 spot and the #2 spot. As long as KC is around and Grogglez's brain continues hemorrhaging, the peak for most receivers is #2.

#2 - @buttfumble
Strengths: Good acceleration off the snap. Has the ability to take the top off the defense and open up the underneath. Has knowledge superior to most receivers. Adjusts routes in space when required against zone coverage to maximize the throwing window.
Weaknesses: Contentious attitude can affect his performance. He has faltered under pressure in big moments, but has shown signs of growth. Can be inconsistent with play speed. Suspect hands when running routes across the middle. May miss routine catches on occasion and is not a reliable jump ball WR.
CSFL Review: Led the league with 56 receptions and 744 yards. Led all receivers with a total player rating of 51.
Potential: #2

#3 - @Jeff.
Strengths: Drastic increase in both awareness and skill since the start of 2016. His newly incorporated stride off-snap demands softer coverage. Able to create separation with sharp cuts out of breaks. Runs crisp routes downfield and routinely makes catches in traffic by finding the ball early and tracking it down. Provides an outlet for the QB when plays break down.
Weaknesses: Jeff on occasion runs rounded and obvious routes. Displays momentary lapses of focus resulting in uncharacteristic misses. Shows flashes of explosiveness, but does not always utilize that ability to get the most after the catch.
CSFL Review: Caught 35 of his 38 targets for 497 yards. Led the league with a 92% reception rate and finished 2nd with 7 touchdowns.
Potential: #2

#4 - @blood
Strengths: Has great awareness and field presence that translates to many yards after catch. He is mostly effective with the ball in his hands. Possesses the knowledge and skill to recapture his dominant offensive form.
Weaknesses: Attitude can be detrimental to team's success. Needs to spread the field more often in order to demand softer coverage so that he can go about making plays underneath with the ball in his hands.
CSFL Review: Amassed 389 yards over 22 receptions. His 17.7 yards per reception ranked 2nd and his 7 touchdowns are tied for 2nd with Jeff.
Potential: #2

#5 - @jeffrey
Strengths: Still raw, but shows that he can absorb knowledge. Positive attitude reflects his progress. Displays good body-control and ability to win jump balls. Effective from the inside and outside position. He displays elusiveness and good vision to get yards after the catch.
Weaknesses: Perceived as a one-dimensional route runner in an orchestrated offense. Inconsistent acceleration off the snap. Struggles to beat the press.
CSFL Review: Led all eligible receivers with 8 touchdowns and 19.3 yards per reception. Finished 2nd in receiving yards with 708.
Potential: #1

#6 - @Rawryoshilove
Strengths: Prototypical outside receiver. Creates separation in transition with the combination of speed, acceleration and bumps. Quick with his feet before and after the catch. His elusiveness allows him to turn a short throw into a long gain. Has a big catch radius. Times and tracks the ball well when catching in traffic. Possesses excellent timing and mid-air body-control to catch jump balls over anyone.
Weaknesses: Attitude adjustment will be necessary in order to reach potential. He's at his best when temperament is under control. Tends to move in a stationary position when plays break down. Struggles with press coverage against top defenders and is inconsistent in awareness of sideline boundary. Overemphasis on cuts may result in erratic routes and body-control.
CSFL Review: Lowest reception rate of eligible receivers at 59%. Totalled 20 receptions for 336 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Potential: #1

#7 - @Record
Strengths: Capable of producing from inside and outside on both sides. Thrives in a free-style offense. Makes catches in traffic and competes for jump-balls.
Weaknesses: Lacks adequate knowledge and awareness compared to top receivers. Inconsistent in play speed, especially in an orchestrated offense. Has a difficult time creating separation. Takes too many unnecessary steps in midst of routes and does not always find soft spots in zone coverage. Does not utilize skill properly to get past defenders, instead relies mostly on raw talent and bumps.
CSFL Review: Caught 30 passes for 394 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Potential: #5

#8 - @deadpool
Strengths: Effective inside and outside receiver. Employs whole skillset when running routes. Locates soft spots in zone coverage. Most effective when utilized as a go-to receiver.
Weaknesses: Lacks focus on consistent basis which results in silly mistakes. Routes can be sloppy and rounded. Has become a role player, but has ability to carry the offensive load when called upon.
CSFL Review: Scored 3 touchdowns while accumulating 20 receptions for 280 yards.
Potential: #5

#9 - @AJ
Strengths: Capable of playing inside and outside. Makes tough catches in traffic when odds are against him. Not afraid of taking the top off.
Weaknesses: Disappears from offense when playing against press coverage. Tends to miss routine passes. Has explosiveness but fails to utilize it on a consistent basis.
CSFL Review: Finished with 2 touchdowns and 12 receptions for 226 yards. Played in just 3 games.
Potential: #7

#10 - @walle
Strengths: Employs a good stride off snap, but does not maximize off of it. Developing into a better route-runner. Has the quickness and balance to go deep and spread the field.
Weaknesses: Fails to create additional separation after surpassing defender. Needs to improve on popping in and out of breaks.
CSFL Review: Ranked 2nd in receptions with 43 for 580 yards.
Potential: #6

My rankings are based on performance in calendar year 2016, which includes CSFL. I will only rank active players that participate in PUGs and are effective. I understand that I may offend some so if you disagree feel free to argue in a civil matter and try to be concise.

Discuss nfl comparisons? Im Randy Moss/Calvin Johnson bringing that double coverage, and blood is definitely T.O.

I had @kc21 as Antonio Brown. I removed the comparisons because I didn't want them to overshadow the analysis.

I have my self as Jerry Rice, people may be salty because he is supposedly the best wr of all time but I feel my playstyle fits his more so than T.O.. Only thing I really have with To is personality I guess you could say.

I have all the tournament WR stats all time
My peak was in an older era while I would focus on short but could hit deep tearing up man coverages.
Jerry Rice was a beast no doubt but given the longevity of his career he was able to accumulate such stats. Give Calvin Johnson that many games and that many years played where would he stand with Jerry Rice.
