This August will mark the 8th anniversary since the public release of American Football Mod.

Over the course of these years, Counter-Strike 1.6 has endured a heavy loss of player traffic. Most communities failed to introduce new ideas and as a result they ceased to exist as their playerbase flocked over to CSS and eventually CS:GO. Many believed and insisted on countless occasions that our community would share the same faith.

I would refute that claim over and over again as I did my best in collaboration with WhooKid to innovate new features and improve existing ones, while organizing community events. Our determination and ambition for what this game could become had never wavered as our unique community continued to grow and continued to strive to what has become the longest active 1.6 community.

However, today, I must submit to reality. Now, more than ever before, the future of American Football Mod is in doubt and there really is not much else that can be done to increase player activity when the Counter-Strike 1.6 playerbase is endlessly decreasing.

For that reason, Beaverboys and I have partnered together to take American Football Mod to the next level - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. We have been working on AFM for CS:GO since late May and have made significant progress. Our goal is to retain all of the benefits of AFM on 1.6 while utilizing the source engine to improve upon the idea of first person football gameplay.

There are many hurdles that will take time to overcome. For example, diving will be difficult to implement, there is no g-strafing in CS:GO, and bots need to be completely manually configured. We plan on fixing all of these issues. However, we will need your help in the process. We need volunteers to help us with testing new additions. We also ask for donations as we will need to outsource some of the workload, such as player models. You may donate through the donation page or by donating any CS:GO item you may have in your inventory. We look forward to expanding on this great game of ours.
